BEACH STAY HOLIDAY
If you are a sun worshiper, and settle quite blissfully into relaxing on the beach, with or without a book - this is the collection for you. A more refined list, meant to help you to not get overwhelmed. Keep in mind that you will need to move around via taxi, bus or car when you want to head out for food, shops, or site seeing. These are great options for those who have a rental car (as most have more easily accessible parking) and want to explore a bit of Mallorca.
Stay at hotels close to the beach at Cala Major, which is west of Palma and also within walking distance to the Joan Miró Foundation, his residence-turned-museum site. To the east of Palma, you will find many local beaches, and an assortment of hotel options - my top choice is included below.

Newly opened in 2023, following some restorations, the Belle Marivent Mediterranean Petit Hotel has a charming Art Deco facade with modern interiors. With its limited 16 rooms, it has a very boutique feel compared to other hotels in the area.
The rooms are modern, with comfortable furniture and large beds, as well as sweetly rounded Art Deco style balconies; the Belle Suite also has a kitchenette. Many guests mention the plush and fluffy bedding, towels and robes; as well as the exceptional front desk service.
A 10 minute walk to Cala Major, that means the hotel is about a 15 minute cab ride from Palma. The checkered tile rooftop plunge pool is fun and picturesque, and views come with a nice sunset. Plus, their restaurant El Sótano by Folies is already receiving high praise. Parking for a rental car is not available on-site, but about 250m away from the hotel.

Hotel Nixe Palace has a prime beachfront Cala Major location, with a one minute walk to the beach, and a 15 minute drive from Palma. One of the hotels with the most rooms on this list, there are 133 rooms of 10 different standards, including some with terraces, others suites with living areas. Originally opened in the late 1950s, Nixe Palace was one of the first luxury hotels on the island, and re-opened after re-acquisition and renovations in the early 2000’s; and it does feel like a mix of both these decades, from building design to room styles.
As of March 2024, the bedrooms will have all been updated with new furniture, decor, and bathrooms. It goes without saying that some rooms will have sea views, and there is also a large outdoor pool with sea view if you enjoy looking out at the vista from the pool rather than the beach.
With two restaurants (both with sea views), a wellness spa, piano bar, and Golf Department available to guests, should you want to visit at least 8 beautiful golf courses within a 12-mile (20-km) radius - this is a well equipped hotel. Paid private parking on-site is available to guests.

The Iberostar Selection Llaut Palma is huge, and luxurious, and a pretty good value for a 5-star hotel. It is about a 15 min drive from Palma, and is well suited for a holiday that values rest and rejuvenation, although it is still close enough to explore and dine out, as well as walk to some local beaches. Beautifully designed, with gorgeous landscaped gardens, spacious and inviting shared areas, and big bright windows and arched ceilings.
The rooms are modern with big beds, and some have views of the Mediterranean. With both outdoor and indoor pools, a sun terrace, spa, gym and complimentary exercise classes including yoga, salsa and pilates - this is a hotel that encourages you to stay and find a pleasant routine.
You can enjoy Majorcan-Asian Fusion Cuisine at Katagi Blau Restaurant, and Orza Buffet, Norai Bistro and Mestres Bar are also on-site. With free public parking at a nearby parking garage, or paid private parking on-site available to guests, this location offers an ease of day trips with a rental car.
